1.brett stewart

7.preston campbell
8.luke bailey
9.michael ennis
10.brent kite
11.nathan hindmarsh
12.anthony laffranchi
13.paul gallen
14.kurt gidley
15.anthony tupou
16.andrew ryan
17.glenn stewart -
1.BRETT STUART - i would have liked to see minichello back in the picture, but he is very unlucky with injuries, stuart is an awesome attacking weapon.
2.(DAVID WILLIAMSON/MICHAEL GORDON) depends on form.
- michael gordon really doing what a winger should do, score tries, play in structure plus he can really kick goals.williamson finished off 2008 very strong, i still reckon he has more to give3.matt cooper - very strong, fast, awesome defender, total package.
4.michael jennings - nsw has been lacking a real freekish talent for a little while now, someone who can pretty much create something out of nothing, i believe jennings with his strength, SSPPPEEEEDDDD, and manoevres, can really open the qld team right apart, i also believe he needs a big occasion to perform at his best.
5.joel monaghan - consistent, can jump for kicks, very useful against israel.
6.braith anasta - bratt fittler is without a doubt my favourite player of all time, with his strength, vision, courage and being able to lift the spirit of the whole team, under him i believe anasta is really striving, for e.g. with the match with roosters v broncos, ofcourse broncos won, but anasta absolutely riped darren lockyer in half, stepping inside him a couple of times, and so on.
7.mitchel pierce - has got his fathers couragous mentality, honestly, just not because im a roosters fan, i believe pierce is one of the true halfback being introduced into the game in present times, such players like andrew johns, langer, prince, thurston, sterling etc. also awesome combination with anasta which can only be a bonus.
8.Brent Kite - always plays strong and tough, someone you can really depend on.
9.Robbie Farah - also one of those great talents, like having an extra halfback, has great vision, the lot.
10.Luke Bailey - if he is available, he is a very inspiring player, tough, strong, he is very mobile.
11.WILLIE MASON - look i know this selection is going to cause contreversy, when in form, no matter how big or good defender you are, you would not like to see a giant trying to run over you.very strong, he is a personlaity player, very good for footy, can be the secret weapon to ending the marrons winning streak.
12.NATHAN HINDMARSH - hindy needs to be there, origin is his thing, he is like a brick wall in defence, in attack he can be very dangerous though gaps, and close to the line.
13.PAUL GALLEN - (ive had this crazy idea of playing TRENT BARRET in lock, playing as an extra playmaker in attack, and is occassionally a great defender also big etc) i use to hate this bloke, but now i understand how he plays, like the 80’s, tough and couragous, if his leg was broken, he would not say a thing just to not let down his team mates. very good in defence, metre eater, very tough mentality.
14.KURT GIDLEY - prob 1st picked, very handy in any position
15.ANTHONY TUPOU - altough his not one of them playes always talked about, he is always picked in origin and test squads, very dangerous in attack, must have.
16.CRAIG FITZGIBBON - can play in second row or front row, big, strong, has a never say die attitude.
17.(ANTHONY LATHRANCHI/TRENT BARRET) both great players, laffranchi, another weapon in second row, with barret, i believe his one of them game chaning players like fittler, john, stacey jones, has a old mind which i believe was the best way to play footy.the halves have caused the most contreversy, for wallace, when i see him play, he does not excite me, or standard should i say, he can pass and kick, but i do not believe he is an actual HALFBACK.Campese has rosen evrybodies attention, but ofcourse he is a great talent, but he just does not convince me as being a really great player.
when he was tossed into the world cup, he had little input, and did not play what was expected of him, i believe he is not a BIG STAGE PLAYER.There is my team for now, but theres still a while left to go so well see.
-

Ali - I think you are pretty spot on to who I think would be taking the field for the Blues - good call!

Well now that Brett Stewart isnt playing, i think Gidley will finally get a start, Even though he is the complete package off the bench and can play anywhere in the backline and dummy half, he does deserve a start. If they pick on form like they say, this is what i think.

Will cop some for not naming Gallen, but you only have to look at this seasons form and the amount of drop ball from him in last years SOO to understand why though. Damn shame that Josh Morris is no longer available. Bring on the SOO!

James McManus is the best wing I have ever seen!!! Totally awesome and should deiently be picked!! and gidley, cross, hilder,
Mcmanus is consistent and reliable!! Pick him
Luv footy fan -
look i know mason isnt in the 40, but i reckon hell still be in the actual origin side, i know his not very consistent, but when he does fire up, he can be a handfull, i really do hope NSW pick the right team.
and another thing, look im all for change and bringing in all younger players, but i really do believe that we do need a couple, not alot, but a couple of old heads in the squad.
reason is that, young players are awesome, energetic, confident, and sometimes can be a little too confident.
meaning that they will do all the fancy and hard work, most of the times it will pay off but, in some cases the rong play will be played, with some older, experienced players (ofcourse to be chosen on merit and form) to slow the game down, in some cases, like settle the game, so it just doesnt go crazy and backfire. -

14. Brent Kite
15. Anthony Tupo

17. Matt RogersI would have the Ennis and Rogers on the bench to allow the game to open up in the second half like to always does. Just think Gidley, Mullen, Wallace, Farrah, Ennis and Rogers all on in the last 30min that will really test any side with that much ball movement. QLD won’t know where the ball will be going.

17.keith gallowaythats what i think with brett stewart out…
if brett stewart was in i would put him in the number 1 and move kidley to the 14 and drop lewis.. because lewis is much like kidley just not as good.. if some one gets injured they would fill the position good matter who got injured… thats the best i could pick out of the 40 man nsw squad… nsw will win 3-0 with that side… im a melbourne suporter and i think smith slater inglis and cronk are all out of form same with locker and thurston… nsw was picked on form at last.. there not auto picking the oldtimers anymore.. -

11. Anthony Laffranchi
12. Anthony Watmough
13. Glenn Stewart14. Craig Wing
15. Ben Creagh
16. Brent Kite
17. Paul Gallen -
1.gidley - great player, also on goal kicking, his not hitting them the best lately, still thats not something primarily on nsw minds at the moment.
2.monaghan - look, his proven the he needs to be there, strong, fast and also, he could attack the highball awesomly, also great defensive tool against israel.
3.jennings - look i was also having second thoughts on him, but after last weeks game, his got to be there, nsw lately hve been lacking that freekish attacking talent, and the other night his also shown that he can defend too, if his not there this origin, i am going to be very disapointed, as long with many other supporters.
4.cooper/lyon- look, i am disgusted at the fact of picking someone who does not want to play, but in realistically, you cannot deny how good a player lyon can be, cooper on the other hand, needs some time to get back in form, but the number _4_ centre is still pretty much up for grabs i reckon.
5.best/hayne- eels are going very very poorly, but in the last couple of games, hayne has atleast tryied to stand up, if he plays a few more good games, i will not mind him playing on the wing, best since last yr has really been impressive, strong fast, exactly what you need a winger.
6.campese - although being off form in the last couple of weeks, we can afford to give him a go, to see if he can perform in the big stage seeing that the selectors simply do not want anasta in thier team for some unusual reason, (lest just hope campese does not play as shocking as he did in the world cup match)
7.wallace - look, i really believe that pierce needs to be given anther shot, his sooo tough, probably one of the better defending halves , but right now, wallace is playing some really awesome footy, he deserves to be given another shot.
8.bailey - no ifs or buts about this selection, nsw since discarding alot of senior members need that experience, also bailey is in excellent form, i might even reckon that hell be captain.
9.farah- ennis is playing some awesome footy, but farah has been waiting his turn for a while now behind bedsy, he has to be given a shot, also in some hektik form, i would really like to see that farah and smith matchup at origin level.
10.kite - i know although manly are in poor form, kite deserves to be thier, he never lets you down showing it in tests and in the grand final, getting the clive churchill medal,
11.waterhouse - we nsw’s man are very lucky in terms of our second rowers, we have tones of em, doesnt matter who you put, theyll do thier job, recently i havnt been a fan of waterhouse, but lately, in an exciting panthers squad, his looking like on eof the best, very tough and has that mongrel in him that will wrestle the qld forward pack awesomly.
12.laffranchi - very good in a good titans pack, good defender, runs awesome attacking line, very dangerous around the line.
13.tongue - recently i would have chosen gallen, but after this week, it really put me off him, tongue plays with the ame intensity and heart as gallen, only with less penalties, thats got to be a bonus doesnt it.
since people now want to select on form, he has always been on form, a reall origin player.14.tupou - altough the sharks arent going well, tupou is still playing great footy, a certainty.
15.lewis - since gidley now in the starting side, lewis will be an aesome utility, able to played anywhere.
16.wing - although i know he wont be picked, he would be so dangerous coming off the bench, would just open the game right up
17.creagh - since choosing on form, there is aguably no other second rower who is in better form, would be very useful off the bench.look, people has considered players like weyman and mcmanus and such, theyve had 4 or 5 good games and now there intented to be origin players. makes me laugh really
like bennet said about soward, who is arguably the best player in nrl at the moment, that a origin player is not made after a couple of good performances, you gotta be able to hold that form for a while, play tough, draaining, faultless footy, where a single mistake could mean you loose the game or the series.
-
1. Kurt Gidley - a good replacement for stewart good attacking weapon (only cus stewart is gone)
2. David Williams - one word speed!
3. Matt Cooper - consistent and strong runner
4. Jamie Lyon - if he decides to play rep footy good choice (if he decides to play)
5. Jarryd Hayne - has tried to carry the eels to victory many times
6. Terry Campese - Great form this season very knowledgable and aware player great vision of the game
7. Peter Wallace/Mitchell Pearce - can’t split wallace has been playing great footy but i thought he didn’t play well under pressure last origin/pearce is strong and got stage fright last origin give him another shot
8. Brent Kite - storng rough tough player will stick it to the QLD forwards
9. Robbie Farah - great player i i believe will play fast quick ball against QLD will get them on the back foot
10. Luke Bailey (c)- great leader and will knock over the forwards of QLD
11. Anthony Tupou - Exciting player always dangerous with the football
12. Anthony Watmough - Fast strong player who will break the line many times and capitalise on any opportunities
13. Glenn Stewart - Fantastic defender and always setting up tries with his back like skills
14. Anthony Laffranchi - IMPACT player, expected to come on 20mins in and rip up QLD forward pack with his intensity
15. Jamie Soward - Smart young player, able to withstand pressure not sure if he could handle origin yet but deserves to have a go
16. Luke Lewis - utility player has really inspired the panthers this year
17. Josh Perry - agressive strong player another player like laffranchi will make an impact when he goes on to give some of the forwards a rest
Well thats my team i would choose!!

Well City vs Country was bit of a blow out last night (as was the test) - however I though the following raised above and put themselves in a great position for a blues jumper:
- Michael Ennis (over Farrah)
- Peter Wallace (over Mullens)
- Luke Bailey (always going to be there)
- Laffranchi (impact player) -
1.kurt gidley

17. J POOREGood combination across backline - Lyon and Williams (Manly) - Jennings (speed / creativity) and Monaghan (big and strong to try and negate Folau especially under high ball). All solid defenders and can bring ball back up strongly when in own 20 giving forwards vital rest. Up front - solid props in Kite and Bailey. Good strong defensive back row that are excellent ballhanders and can create second phase play to the outside backs (especially likes of Jennings and Lyon). Farah gets the nod over Ennis for combination during City game with Wallace. Campese gets a run with form on board at club level (more so last year) but also is a strong second receiver kicker in play (4 or 5 40/20s this year) - territory is vital. Off bench Wing gets nod just……over Lewis after strong showing for City (however Lewis could get job done). Gallen and Laffranchi good impact players plus Poore adds much needed size and strength up front. Unlucky: Watmough misses out - good player but can be a bit hit and miss and does seem to miss more tackles at club level then he should.

1. Kurt Gidley: No more said stella year, always dependable
2.Jarryd Hayne: Best player by a mile in a terrible side this year
3.Matt Cooper/Jamie Lyon: Alot of origin experience, good defenders and great attacking weapons
4.Micheal Jennings: Similar to Hayne, freakish talent and one of the fastest in the game.
5.Joel Monagham: Another player playing well in a loosing side, great leap to combat Inglis and Folau in the year.
6.Jarred Mullen: Easily playing better than campese, great kicking game and attacks the line with alot of success
7.Peter Wallace: Really come of age this year, the kids in for a blinder
8.Micheal Weyman: Once the anger was gone, this giant is one of the work horses of the nrl.
9.Robbie Farah: Showing more and more every week why he should be there
10.Luke bailey: Tyrless workrate, great defence and committment.
11.Anthony Laffranci: Having another great year and is also a great close ball runner.
12.Anthony Watnough: Must have in the side for forward momentum and tackling force.
13.Glen Stwart/Luke O’Donnel: Either one would get the job done at hand.14.Craig Wing: Great utility player
15.Ben Greag: Great to have come off the bench
16.Mark Kinichello: Great forward player who can slot into forwards or second row when needed.
17.Justin Poore: Similar to Weyman great work ethic and commitment
18.Jamie Soward: Incase we need a back up back his the perfect man for the job.
19.One of the Morris boys, to cover the backline just in case.
20.Trent Waterhouse/Nathan Hindmarsh: Really good guys to have incase of forward replacement. -

oops… Bronson Harrison was meant to read Ashley Harrison. Also, in order to further embarrass the multitude of hapless NSW supporters, reflect on this stat for a minute: In 2009, Qld officially have only 80 players to choose from who are eligible for origin.. (according to www.qrl.com.au).. compared to 320 for NSW. So, if we do the maths, Qld has just 20% of the player pool to choose from (16 teams x 25 players per club = 400).. yet still dominates. That percentage has hovered around that mark forever. In fact this year I believe it’s lower than previous years.. last year I think was 92 from memory. On that basis, Qld should only be entitled to win 1 in 5 matches/series… that would be a respectable outcome given the maths. So how good does that make 3 series in a row look!! If we win again this year, it’ll only be a matter of time before the NSWRL, oops I mean the NRL, review origin elibigility to prevent the run-off of NSW born players like Inglis & Folau playing for Qld.. watch this space.

1. gidley-determined, u can see it in his face wen hes on the field in general, he wants to be there. id have him in there whether stewart is healthy, unhealthy, dead or alive.
2. Mcmanus- hes as fast as any winger and can leap as high as folau, monahan etc(maybe not folau but def monas) hes strong defender and perfect fit.
3. jennings- freak and u need some brothers who are both strong and fast.
4. lyon- dead set freak, no1 else is better from nsw.
5. hayne- hes in the side but sum needs to tell him to try harder, he seems like one of those players who goes half out- i know this isnt true but sum1 tell him to put on an angry face or sumthin.
6. mullen- easily over campese atm, also newcastle combination would be mad.
7. wallace- i keep forgetting hes like 20,21 yrs old. so much class and a shoe in for this position.
8. bailey- been there b4 and one of the lucky ones not to get overlooked but deserves the spot.
9. farrah- atm his nose is in front of ennis’(if it isnt already) and shown how good he is by gettin numerous man of the match awards even in a losing side wen he was knocked out for half the time.
10. weyman- evry1 seems to like kite but hes not in form, weymans an angry bastard which is what u need in state of origin, also hes much better than kite.
11. laffranchi- dont watch much of him but know hes definitely good enuff.
12. o’donnell- people will say hes not good enough but i know and evry1 knows this man would dead set die for a blue jersey, hes one of those guys who if theres a fight he will run from anywhere to get in there and win for his state, and if u dont think hes good enuf, look at his metres stats and tackling. hes an angry bastrd just like weyman.
13. tongue- same here. nsw needs a guy like this, screw flair and ‘another pivot option’ in attack with g.stewart. we need an equivalent of dallas johnson in the side, who will not stop for anything in this game. ud wonder why stewart is an 80min player- cuz he dusnt do anything.
———–
14. lewis- needs to be the utility guy in the team. u watch him for pentrith, he may not be a jennings or sumthin in that team but hes a workhorse no matter where u put him on the field.
15. creagh- needs to be there with form and strength and determination.
16. watmough- certified meathead. reat for origin, he will put a bit of fear in queenslands eyes. hell be great of the bench.
17. kite- even though i sed hes not supposed to be here, theres actually no other fit player in the 40 man squad(front rower) thats fit. i would have galloway but this is a filler if i maytrust me evry1 has their opinion but if we’re dead set goin to get a win this year there is one man to listen to-tommy raudonikis. this man knows what hes talking about when it comes to origin. u want people who u know who will bleed for our state. u need player who understand that theyre versin queensland the enemy and they need to know that that is what they are, not the opposition, not ‘the other team’ but the enemy. screw flair from forwards(ala .stewart) they work and leave that crap for the backs. nsw have been lacking workhorses in these last couple of loses. you cant have a player like gidley off the bench anymore, brett stewart or no brett stewart. put 13 players on the field that will literally do whatever it takes to win, that simple

Joel Reid May 20th, 2009 at 23:24
1.Jarryd Hayne: He has made this spot his.
2.Michael Jennings:young talent for origin but hes just what the blues need.
3.Jamie Lyon:Outstanding really has shown he deserves his spot no questions asked.
4.Joel Monaghan:it was either Matt cooper or him, based on form Monaghan gets the nudge.
5.David Williams:Played in the world cup and has had an average season butt the blues need the speed and he is there answer
6.Terry Campese: played in the world cup and is well suited for this job.
7.Trent Barret: He has got the experience in origin football unlike any other halfbacks going around at the moment. he would be well and truly home.
8.Luke Bailey(vc): work horse his spot is safe. He could be in the running for captaincy as well.
9.Kurt Gidley(c): even though he is a fullback, he has explosive talent in hooker and he had played interchange hooker for the previous season for the blues. him starting at hooker could be the spark we need. he is a true leader. If he got chose at fullback i would happy but the blues have to try something different.
10.Brent Kite: he has had experience there. this position could of easily went to josh Perry im happy to see either of the 2 of them there
11.Anthony Watmough: he has showed he deserves this. He is truly made for origin. he gets this starting spot over the very consistent Ben Creagh again could of gone either way.
12.Glenn Stewart:Very talented like a second five-eight.He can add some spark to the back row
13.Paul Gallen: Absolute power house. NSW answer to Petero Civenociva
14.Robbie Farah:He is very talented can play lock in the halves and hooker just what your looking for from the bench
15.Josh Perry: in great form. muscle man for the blues.as i said it could be him or kite in the starting 13.
16.Ben Creagh:very consistent, great line runner work horse. as i said could be in the starting line up.
17.Michael Weyman: this was the hardest decision in my line up. this spot could of gone to Laffranchi or Anthony Topou.I went on the fact that there might not of been enough muscle in the blues.
i really think this is the line up that beats Queensland. Everyone in this team deserves there spots. if you have any feedback post it in this blog i more than happy to read it.

1. Kurt Gidley(c)(gk) - playing awesome footy at moment and a killer of a game against roosters, strong runner and brilliant out of dummy-half.
2. James McManus - really is the flying scotsman, good combination with Gidley and useful against Folau
3. Michael Jennings - Good step, and SPEEEEED!
4. Matt Cooper - a lot of experience, strength, good runner and consistancy
5. Jarryd Hayne - really is the stand out in a team that isnt going well
6. Jarrod Mullen - great speed for a half can attack the line from 20 metres out and can run down QLD players
7. Peter Wallace - played beautifully in city v country(better then Mullen) can run the ball. good halfback
8. Brent Kite - great leadership could be a handfull for QLD to get him on the ground
9. Michael Ennis - now that Bedsys gone this is the hardest pick. Farah, Ennis and I must say De Gois in hot form at the moment
10. Luke Bailey - WAR HOSE!!!!! Very good leader will show the youngsters how to do it. Great Origin player
11. Anthony Laffranchi - Great weapon when the ball is close to the line
12. Glenn Stewart - Terriffic defender and good offloader close to the line.
13. Paul Gallen - VERY TOUGH makes heaps of metres and is a great defender and also a bit of a plus in attack14. Luke Lewis - Starting to be Much like Gidley… Not quite as good though. could fill in, in a lot of positions.
15. Michael Weyman - Like Bailey WAR HORSE!!!!! Great Origin Player
16. Ben Creagh - Great back rower. Terrific on the burst. can score tries.
17. Justin Poore - Very good player at the moment. WAR HORSE!!!!! Great Origin Player18. Craig Wing - 5/8, hooker, lock, halfback, UTILITY. Great Player. Many Positions under his belt

Just on my line up. i would like to know what you all think on Trent Barret at halfback.do you think he should be in the line up??? And another topic is Nathan Hindmardh he is the most deserving player for the blues jersey absolute work horse. the selectors just keep over seeing him. i would of loved to of haved him in my line up but i dont think the selectors will wake up.i now want to include him into my team. i have made just a few changes.
10.Josh Perry: I now realize Brent kite hasn’t proved he deserves this starting spot. josh blinder of a player.
15.Nathan Hindmarsh:What can i say about him. Overlooked for 2origin seasons, and 2 miserable seasons for the blues. Racking up 50-60 tackles a game.Should find himself in the starting 13. Power horse.please bring Hindmarsh back.
16.Ben Creagh:very consistent, great line runner work horse. as i said could be in the starting line up.
17.Brent Kite:Do we need more muscle:Brent Kite, do we need more skill:Anthony Laffranchi, do we need more line runners:Anthony Topou , one thing is we need experience. This is why iv gone for the muscle factor and the experience factor in Brent Kite. He has played for Australia and for the blues. He maches the muscle man from the maroons like, Steven Price, Petero Cinenociva and maroons hopeful Nick Kenny, Sam Thaiday.Blues need the muscle and experience to match.
This team is my final decision we will have to find out on monday afternoon who will get the official NSW call up.Us blues fans can only hope its this team. thank im Joel Reid

1.KURT GIDLEY -HE IS THE ONLY GREAT FULLBACK IN THE GAME WHO IS AVAILABLE KNOW AND HE HAS BEEN IN RED HOT FORM
2.JARAD HAYNE-I WOULD PICK HAYNE BECAUSE I THINK HE CAN SCARE THE QUEENSLAND DEFENCE WITH HIS LITTLE DANCING STEPS
3.JAMIE LYON-YOU CAN GO PAST LYON. HE IS PROBALY THE BEST CENTRE IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW. HE WILL SCARE QUEENSLAND ALOT WITH HIS SPEED.
4.MICHEAL JENNINGS-JENNINGS DESERVES TO PLAY HIS SPEED SHOULD SCARE QUEENSLAND , IM NOT SURE ON HIS DEFNCE THOUGH
5.DAVID WILLIAMS-I KNOW HIS FORM IS NOT GOOD AT THE MOMENT BUT I THINK HE MATCHES UP TO ISREAL FOLAU
6.JAMIE SOWARD - SOWARD IS PROBALY THE BEST PLAYER IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW AND HIS KICKING GAME CAN BE IMPORTANT IN STATE OF ORIGIN.HE WILL ABLE TO REALLY SCARE QUEENSLAND
7.JAROD MULLEN-MULLEN IS IN GREAT FORM HE SHOULD BE IN THIS SIDE BECAUSE HIS COMBINATION WITH GIDLEY WILL SCARE THE QUEENSLAND DEFENCE.
8.LUKE BAILEY- BAILEY SHOULD PLAY ,HIS HARD RUNNING AND GREAT TACKLING WILL BE HANDY FOR NSW
9.MICHEAL ENNIS-THERES NO DOUBT, IN THAT GAME AGAINST THE TIGERS I THINK MICHEAL ENNIS GOT THE BETTER OF ROBBIE FARAH ,HE DESERVES TO PLAY
10.MICHEAL WEYMAN-INJURY HAS STOPPED WEYMAN FROM PREVIOUS SERIES BUT HE DESERVES TO PLAY, HE WILL SCARE THE QUEENSLAND DEFENCE
11.LUKE O’DONNELL-HE IS JUST IN BLISTERING FORM FOR THE COWBOYS AND HE WILL BE ABLE TO KNOW WHAT THURSTON DOES BECAUSE HE IS HIS TEAMMATE
12.BEN CREAGH-CREAGH IS PROBALY ONE OF THE BEST SECOND ROWERS IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW HE WILL BE VERY HAND
13.LUKE LEWIS-LEWIS FOR PENRITH HAS BENN IN JUST ABSOULUTEY GREAT FORM AND HIS DEFENCE WILL SCARE QUEENSLAND ALOT14.JUSTIN POORE
15.BRENT KITE
16.ANTHONY LAFFRANCHI
